Daffodils on Golica massif
Some permanent participants of Rekreatour already knows how ‘fairly difficult’ can be the beautiful route of Golica Tour. By ” fairly difficult ” I mean its quite early date (10th of May 2014) because there are some of us who still don’t have enough ” uphil kilometers” in our legs . But there’s nothing to be woorried about. Despite the fact that I have to drive the route in April, when I got in the legs about 200 kilometres , I never have serious problems . I simply stop several times more and enjoy beatiful scenery (application)
The Golica Tour event combines racing charm with tourist cycling and is the first and only type of this event in the Zgornjesavska valley. Primarily it is designed for mountain and trekking cyclists. The route is quite demanding, being approximately 60km long and runs along mountain trails that twist through slopes covered with daffodils. The timing of the event is coordinated perfectly to when the daffodils are in bloom! Along with the beauty of nature we have spiced up this tour with visits to the cultural-historic sights of Planina pod Golico, tourist-farm offers, secrets of the Slovenian Alpine Museum in Mojstrana and the diverse technical heritage of the iron factory in Jesenice. To participate in this event you need to form a team of three to five members. The team that wins the ‘Steel daffodils cup’ is that team which finishes the closest to the average time of all teams. This simple rule forces teams to enjoy the ride rather than just race!
