Travel through Prologue in 3D
A few news items back, I promised that you could soon admire some modern geographic visuals: cartography indeed. The project ” Rekreatur – third dimension” united the Department of Geodesy at the Faculty for Civil Engineering and Geodesy (FGG), Kartografija company and Rekreatur. As the first result of our efforts we have created a 3D layout of this year’s prologue . A lot of the credit for such a high quality product goes to the Tilen Urbančič et Matevž Domajnko from the FGG and experts from the Kartografija company who provided the professional cartographic background.
Of course, we are now preparing 3D visualisations of the 1st , 2nd and 3rd stages and all we need to do is to ride over them with our bikes! The weather hasn’t been good enough the last few days, but now the forecast is much improved. The 3D record is better and technically more feasible if it done with GPS co-ordinates. It will be recorded with a Garmin Oregon device.
The main purpose of our project is to inspire and motivate cycle route providers to use this kind of presentation quality, which also offers such an attractive way to present themselves and their product.
