Rekreatur 2014 / MTM team

Have you always wanted to experience the excitement and charm of a stage bicycle race, like the Tour de France or Giro d’Italia?
Maybe you don’t feel so well prepared, a bit too old, or just can’t force yourself onto the saddle any more!
You probably love the idea of group cycling, but you don’t want to go at maximum speed just to cross a finishing line as fast as possible?
You certainly like to socialize, ride the longer routes and are interested in seeing varied and beautiful landscapes, not to mention meeting the locals?

Well, if your answer is »Yes« to these questions, then Rekreatur™ – Team cycling around  Slovenia– is the perfect choice for you. We take the charm and romance of stage bike races and mix this with recreational cycling to offer you four days of pure cycling fun.

Rekreatur™ is split into a prologue and three seperate stages over 4 days and about 350km around beautiful Slovenia. The ride is not easy! But to ease your tired muscles, we have chosen less busy roads with stunning views and so much variation, all for your pleasure and enjoyment. Quite simply, we combine cycling, tourism and socializing. We want you to have a fun-filled 4 days.

Where Rekreatur™ is really unique from other cycling events is at the checkpoints. Here, you will meet the locals, taste Slovenian culinary specialities and of course have a little rest from the saddle. It’s not just the cycling that matters for us! You will get the chance within a cycling scenario to rediscover your social side and you will also see that comradeship still exists when you get great support from your teammates along the way, just when you need it the most. And last but not least, when you are exhausted from a full day’s cycling, the evening fun is just about to start! The Rekreatur™ team are strong believers in the evening’s entertainment being just as important as the day’s cycling.

There is just one important criteria to join Rekreatur™. You can only take part as a team consisting of 4 to 8 cyclists, with unlimited companions. Friends and family are welcome to support you over the entire course – carrying drinks, food and other goodies in the suppoert vehicle. Each team also needs to choose a captain – preferably one of the cyclists. This person will do the communication with the race organizer (application forms, entry-fee payment, possible team changes, other stuff).

Just like regular stage races, RekreaturTM has its winners. But we have made some exciting changes to the general rules of the game. The winner and the holder of the “orange jersey” will be the team that finishes the nearest to the average cycling time of all the teams. This applies to each separate stage and to the overall winner of all stages. RekreaturTM is not some crazy race where you blindly follow GPS directions, but something refreshing and new. We are dedicated to you enjoying the ride and finding your route the old fashioned way by stopping and asking the locals for directions or using a ‘good old’ paper map. These essential skills are dying out, but take it from us, they still come in very handy and make team cycling even more fun

And finally – check out this quote from a leading Slovenian cycling journalist:

»RekreaturTM is just the most interesting recreational cycling event that you can imagine. In a few days we get plenty of cycling, socializing and sightseeing passing through the most beautiful Slovenian villages, towns and cities. All this mixed with the great fun and excitement of a race. “
